Squeezed Between the Lines
This is a miniseries exploring an inner creative struggle. I have always approached illustration through a comic book-style method: lines come first, everything else comes after. Sometimes my obsession with line art leads to a slow, rigid process, where creativity with the colors, textures and form become imprisoned within the lines I've established.
Over the years I've developed a greater appreciation for many styles of illustration, and have wanted to "break out of the mold." Through this series I’ve found a sense of relief by establishing form with colors and textures first, allowing raw shapes to breathe while the lines take a backseat. This miniseries depicts the strain of escaping the boundaries I've unintentionally set for myself.
